àbito s. m. [dal lat. habĭtus -us, der. di habere nel senso di «comportarsi»]. – 1. a. Sinon. generico di veste, vestito, soprattutto con riguardo alle sue caratteristiche, al modo di vestire: a. da uomo, da donna; a. da lavoro; a. da inverno, da mezza stagione; a. da pomeriggio, da sera, da gran sera, da cerimonia (in questo senso, anche assol.: occorre l’a. nero; ci vuole l’a. scuro per l’occasione?); a. militare, civile; farsi un a. nuovo; tagliare, cucire un a., riferito al sarto; un taglio (o uno stacco) d’abito, la stoffa occorrente per farlo.

[lat. sĕntire] (io sènto, ecc.). – In senso ampio, avvertire un qualsiasi stato di coscienza indotto in noi dal mondo esterno attraverso i sensi o un qualsiasi stato affettivo insorgente nell’animo. Nella varietà degli usi e delle particolari accezioni, i sign. fondamentali del verbo si possono ricondurre a questi tre: avvertire una percezione; avvertire una sensazione; provare un sentimento. 1. a. Apprendere attraverso i sensi; ricevere una o più impressioni sensoriali e averne coscienza.
